Bearers of Seed

I was thinking of a couple of friends, Tony and Denise that are on the mission field. How God calls us to take the message of His son Jesus Christ to a lost world. Those thoughts inspired this next poem.

“Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.” Mark 4:3-8

Bearers of Seed
Rev. Dr. Winston Watson

Go, Plant ye bearers of God’s eternal seed
Plough, make fertile each heart to feed

Take that which I have committed unto you
Bear it, deliver it, and it will empower too

I am the true vine, you are the branches
I am the anointing, using your voices

My arm reaches far and reaches near,
Nation, no nations all are dear

Spirit, Holy Spirit empower me now
Bring to my remembrance, show me how

Teach me to walk holy and low
That I may know when and how to sow

For there is a harvest, yet to be had
Come Lord come, in you we are clad

Sow o my people, sow to the world
My Word will exalt me, I will be heard!

With boldness go forward, lay hands on the sick
Speak peace to nations, my coming will be quick

In triumph, and in glory I will return
With me your reward, your eternal crown
