I was thinking one day about the book of revelation and although having read it, I had not written anything about what I had read. I was lead to this passage and penned these words.
The New Jerusalem
REv. Dr. Winston Watson
And John saw a new heaven and a new earth
For the old had lost its worth
For he saw this home we are to receive
And no more sea did he perceive
Now taken upon a mountain high
He looked toward the distant sky
Descending from God and above
The New Jerusalem as a dove
The city was filled with his light
This holy city a glorious sight
And surrounding this holy city
A wall of height I cannot speak expressly
He looked and twelve gates he saw
At each an angel, he stands in awe
Its brightness like that of jasper
The sound of its descent a whisper
The city was of pure gold,
Like that of glass I did behold
In its foundation was every precious stone,
A city where we will never be alone
Twelve gates and those of pearl,
The glory of God in its streets did swirl
And no temple did he see inside
For in us would God’s presence reside
The gates never shut by day
For access we had alway
The New Jerusalem a glorious sight
The city of God, our eternal delight
